Best Southern Fried Chicken Recipe 🔥Recipe👇👇
🥰👉Ingredients:
3 cups of buttermilk
Peanut oil for frying
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
3-4 lbs chicken pieces (drumsticks, thighs, wings, and/or breasts)
👉Directions:
Marinate Chicken: In a large bowl, soak the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results. This will make the chicken super tender and flavorful.
Prepare Oil: In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the peanut oil over medium heat to about 350°F (175°C).
Mix Flour and Seasonings: In a separate large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix them well.
Dredge Chicken: Remove chicken pieces from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring it's fully coated.
Fry Chicken: Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil. Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes for wings and drumsticks, 14-16 minutes for breasts and thighs.
Drain and Serve: Once cooked, remove the chicken pieces from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Let them rest for a few minutes.
Serve the fried chicken hot with your favorite sides, like mashed potatoes, green beans, or coleslaw.
