Cheesy Garlic Scalloped Potatoes
Ingredients:
3 lbs potatoes, thinly sliced
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh thyme, for garnish
Directions:
Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare potatoes: Peel and thinly slice the potatoes. Arrange a layer of potato slices in a buttered 9x13 inch baking dish.
Make garlic cream sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Pour in heavy cream, bring to a simmer, and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in half of the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
Layer and bake: Pour some of the cream sauce over the first layer of potatoes. Repeat layering with remaining potatoes and cream sauce, finishing with a layer of sauce. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese on top.
Bake: Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove the foil and bake for another 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender.
Serve: Garnish with fresh thyme before serving.
